Today I finally finished a painting that I've been working on for quite some time. The painting is called 'Guardian Spirit' and I was thinking about this Native American blessing as I was painting it:
"May you have the strength of eagles' wings. The courage to fly to new heights. And the wisdom of the universe to carry you there."
I painted this painting using the old masters painting technique. In this technique, you paint an underpainting using just two colours; raw umber and white. And then you glaze the colours on top of the underpainting in thin translucent layers.
The painting was painted on Fredrix Nature Core Belgian linen canvas board using Winsor&Newton and Mussini oil paints.
